SAP migration strategy
A new implementation, system conversion and selective data transition serve different needs. We assess the source, target, required history and business changes before selecting the approach and tools.

Moving data, integrating a business or separating an operation affects people and processes as much as systems. COPERNIC brings migration, carve-in and carve-out expertise, alongside migration tools we have developed to support preparation and validation.

A completed technical load is not the same as business acceptance. We define the entities, data and processes in scope, then identify dependencies on other systems, third parties and open transactions before selecting a transformation approach.
A new implementation, system conversion and selective data transition serve different needs. We assess the source, target, required history and business changes before selecting the approach and tools.
We define separation boundaries and shared dependencies across master data, contracts, interfaces, open transactions and access. The plan also addresses retained information and responsibilities during transition.
We assess organisational mappings, master data alignment and the rules of the receiving environment. Business teams resolve differences in operating models, duplicate data and intercompany flows.
Our migration tools are selected according to project scope and suitability. They are distinct from the SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit and other vendor tools: supported objects, licensing and limitations are checked before use.
Extraction, transformation, loading and validation are sequenced around their dependencies. Rehearsals establish timings and expose differences. The cutover plan defines owners, decision criteria and fallback options to assess.
Functional and technical specialists work together on the relationships that make data useful. Finance, sales, procurement and IT teams participate in migration checks. This combined expertise distinguishes a successfully loaded record from a transaction the business can actually use.
We inventory data and processes, identify owners and define selection rules. Retention and access requirements are confirmed with the responsible teams.
Mappings and transformations are tested and reviewed by business owners. Each cycle records rejects, differences, corrections and prerequisites for the next run.
Readiness brings together test results, reconciliations, team availability and operating plans. Go/no-go criteria are agreed before the cutover window.
We agree the scope and acceptance criteria at the start of the engagement, based on your landscape and priorities.
Migration moves data or a system to a target. A carve-out separates a business; a carve-in integrates one into a receiving environment. These projects can combine migration, data transformation and changes to business processes.
Not necessarily. It supports defined migration scenarios and objects; it is not a universal tool for business separation or selective historical data transfer. Tool selection depends on the scenario, releases and data scope.
Timings and constraints depend on data volumes, tooling and the operations required. We assess them through dependency analysis and rehearsals rather than promise uninterrupted service before the scenario has been studied.
